Arts & Leisure planned an evening event for all of our trivia experts out there - Trivial Pursuit Challenge! Many of our residents are avid trivia enthusiasts. They celebrate their knowledge of many subjects, from pop culture and history, to current events and literature!

Moods will "lighten" and spirits will soar, as Bello and other fabulous international circus artists create "hair-raising" fun.  We even have VIP Boxes, right on the concourse, no steps to your seat.  This is an unforgettable and fun show!

The Arts & Leisure Activities Committee is comprised of JT residents who are committed to helping mold the programming offered in our community. Together they provide their input about past events, and take part in decisions for upcoming programs. They are some of our most involved residents, each taking part in a club, committee and/or event outside of the Activities Committee. Keeping our residents involved in the decision making process sets Jacaranda Trace apart from other independent living communities in the Southwest Florida area.

The Nintendo Wii game console is not only for young players - it's for the young at heart! We have recently purchased Wii Balance games, which use modern technology to asses your balance skills and grow them more and more with each use. Join us for a game on the Wii, you'll have fun and get active in a new way!

Many of our residents feel comforted knowing that whatever event they attend in the Clubhouse, Hearing Assistance Devices are available. These devices work with our sound system to amplify volume so that the listener doesn't have to miss a note the musician plays during a concert, or a word a speaker states during a lecture. Once again, the Jacaranda Trace community has made a way for our residents to feel confident and secure as they pursue an active, independent lifestyle.

Neighbor #1:
One of my favorite childhood memories is of taking long walks with my father on Sunday afternoons. He passed away when I was only 15. I went to high school along with many evening college classes and became a secretary at the age of 19 for the Vice President of Purchasing in Detroit. I was also a medical secratary. I have three children, two daughters, one son. In Colorado we would vacation, and eventually owned our own property and horses there. I had been on many tours and cruises with my late husband. I enjoy reading, singing, swimming and volunteering at church, the library and at Jacaranda Trace wherever needed. Who am I?

Neighbor #2:

Some of my favorite childhood memories are of the two story home my father built, fishing, and graduating High School in New Jersey. I produced and researched the first printing circuits, TV sets and set up the first TV station in New York. I also worked as a plant manager with Aircraft Inovators and helped develop the first electronic calculators ever. My first marriage lasted 28 years, and we had three children. My second marriage lasted 38 years, with two step-grandchildren. My final marriage was at age 72, we married and came to Florida. We built a new home together and planted 100 rose bushes on our property. We traveled all over the world together, to Africa, Austria, Holland, China, France and Italy, among other places. I enjoy woodworking, singing in a barbershop chorus and quartet, and I am still singing today! Who am I?

Our residents always enjoy staying plugged in to current affairs and learning more about events around the world. Foreign Affairs with Bob Clementis gives them the opportunity to ask questions, and learn more about these events. Keeping them stimulated mentally is healthy for the brain, and helps them feel up-to-date and well-informed.

Technology is constantly changing and evolving, which is why it is so vital that our residents stay plugged in to continually tuning their computer skills. Computer Classes are being offered on two levels, one for beginners-intermediate, the other for intermediate-experts. The instructor takes his time with students, teaching them how to navigate the internet, check emails, and complete other basic computer tasks. Students always become more confident in their computer abilities after this course.
