One of my favorite memories is of when my sister and I fashioned two chairs from the snow and played king and queen on them until the snow froze and we used then as slides! I have a BA in Latin and English from the University of Michigan, and a MA in Latin from Wayne State University. I also have a gifted endorsement from Sarasota. I am a retired teacher. I worked in elementary grades for 12 years and high school for 19 years. I am presently in my 15th year of tutoring for Sylvan Learning Centers. I grew up with an older brother, and a younger sister. He became a radiologist and she is a Bridge Master. I also have a daughter. My husband is an avid golfer and Bridge player. I love to walk, play tennis, read and do jigsaw puzzles. I am very anxious to revisit Rome or event live there!

Neighbor #2:

I was born in Chicago, the fourth of six children in a Czech family. My father worked in the steel industry and the Czechs looked out for one another. He saw to it that a young son of a fellow worker got an education. So when I came along, he in this chit. I bagan at Crane Jr. College, progressed to Armco Technical which became Illinois Institute of Technology, for an education in engineering. Asked what my aim was, I replied to my interviewer, "I want your job." I worked at different section of the company and was asked to go to Scotland to right a failing department of the company. I spent several years there getting it in good position before returning home. I had experience in all facets of the business, so I fullfilled my initial wish and became head of the firm. Later in life, my wife and I retired and came to Florida because our son lived here.

Pizza Grilled Cheese Recipe
If you enjoy both pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches this recipe is perfect for you. Your favorite pizza ingredients such as pepperoni, parmesan cheese, and mozzarella cheese are combined in this amazing sandwich. The bread slices are like garlic bread; the butter is mixed with garlic powder and Italian seasoning before spreading it onto the bread. You can use fresh garlic as well if you choose. You can also add additional pizza ingredients to this recipe such a Canadian bacon, black olives, green pepper, and more. A cup of your favorite pizza sauce is served on the side for dipping. This makes a great dinner or lunch for any night of the week.
                                                                   Enjoy, Chef David
Ingredients:
8 slices of bread
¼ cup butter (softened)
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder (or more to taste)
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 package sliced pepperoni
8 slices mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
pizza sauce (for dipping)
Step 1:In a small bowl mix together softened butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Warm the sliced pepperoni’s for a few seconds in the microwave or on the stove top over medium heat.
Step 2:Pre-heat a skillet to medium heat. Spread the garlic butter over one side of a slice of bread. Place butter side down in the skillet. Top with a slice of mozzarella cheese, as many pepperonis as you want, a little parmesan cheese, and an additional slice of mozzarella cheese. Butter an additional slice of bread with the garlic butter and place butter side up on top the sandwich.
Step 3: Cook in the skillet until lightly browned on the bottom and flip over. Continue cooking until the other side has browned and the cheese has melted. Repeat with remaining sandwiches. Cut in half and serve with pizza sauce for dipping.

The Wives of the Signers

Posted by Arts & Leisure in Wives of the Signers , Retirement Activities , Intellectual Senior Activies , Educational Classes at Jacaranda Trace

Much has been written about our Founding Fathers--the courageous steps taken in the Revolutionary War to fight for the Independence from their motherland--the establishment of a new constitution for the 13 new states--and the bravery to do this amid staunch opposition from other factions.

However, could these great men have accomplished much of this without the women in their lives?  Learn about the colonial women, the wars in which they were involved, and how they contributed to the success of the men who shaped the greatest country ever in the history of humankind.

The League of British Women supports local charities, serves as a social club, and encourages women of British lineage to fellowship and always keep in touch with their heritage. Hosting the clubs that our residents take part in is one of many ways that Jacaranda Trace stays connected to our community.
